From barbie dolls to real life dolls
As a child, I had an unusual fascination with doll heads—not the dolls themselves, just the heads. Styling their hair became my favorite pastime, sparking a passion that would shape my future. But the defining moment in my journey came during my college years at Fort Valley State University.
What began as a side business styling hair in my dormitory quickly blossomed into something much bigger. Word spread, and my clientele grew so rapidly that local salons began reaching out. I had built a thriving business, but I found myself at a crossroads: should I finish college or pursue what truly made me happy? With my mother’s blessing, I made the life-changing decision to enroll in cosmetology school, leaving behind the uncertainty of a traditional career path.
Formal Training and the Science of Hair
I honed my craft at Macon Beauty School, just outside of Fort Valley, GA, where I immersed myself in the science of haircare. This formal education taught me more than techniques—it gave me a deep understanding of hair’s structure and the principles of maintaining its health. It was there I realized that great hairstyling begins with a healthy foundation, and that belief has remained at the core of my work ever since.
Rising to the Challenge and Finding My Calling
Cosmetology school felt like second nature to me. I aced every test, passed the State Board on my first attempt, and completed the program in just nine months, ahead of schedule. My journey didn’t stop there. Competing against some of the best hairstylists in the state, I consistently placed at the top and was awarded Best Overall Hairstylist in Georgia. These milestones reaffirmed that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
A Philosophy Rooted in Healthy Hair
My unique focus on healthy hair grew out of an understanding of its importance to women. Healthy hair serves as the canvas for any style, and when cared for properly, it radiates beauty and confidence. This belief drives my commitment to helping women embrace proper haircare practices, ensuring their hair not only looks good but thrives.
Educating and Empowering Every Client
Today, my passion is fueled by educating everyday women on the correct principles of haircare. In a world filled with misinformation, I see it as my mission to provide clarity and expertise, empowering my clients to make informed decisions about their hair.
This journey has been one of purpose, growth, and passion, and I look forward to continuing to serve my clients with the same dedication that started in my dorm room years ago.
